Sounds like a pretty decent list. Recently I've discovered that doing a Phd would be cool for other reasons. My dad said that while doing his all the postgrads used to get together and say "what shall we learn about this week?" and then they'd take it in turns to go learn something and then teach everyone else through lectures. This seems to be the main way cool things like chaos theory, supersymmetric string theories and assorted higher mathematics get learned.
hah thats a cool idea. a whole lot better than reading a bunch of books trying to figre it out. Get someone else to read the books and then explain it to everyone
